Gayle was recently recognized by The Cowboy Channel, a national leader in Western sports and ProRodeo coverage. The recognition is especially meaningful because Gayle's story is one deeply rooted in the world of horses and rodeo.

Gayle began competing in Texas youth rodeos at a young age. She went on to compete collegiately at Texas Tech University and later became a member of the Professional Women’s Rodeo Association.
In her rookie year with the PWRA, Gayle won the PWRA World All-Around title, competing in multiple events including tie-down roping, breakaway roping, steer undecorating, barrel racing, and team roping. She also set a 10.5-second calf-roping arena record at the Lazy E Ranch in 1988.
In 1995, Gayle made history when she became the first woman to win a truck at a major championship team-roping event.
Her accomplishments have earned her recognition within the Texas rodeo community, including induction into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame and, most recently, the 2025 class of the Central Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame.
While Gayle's accomplishments in rodeo are extraordinary, her impact today reaches far beyond competition.
As Equine Programs Director for Horse Power Equine Therapy, Gayle brings decades of experience with horses, horse behavior, training, safety, and horsemanship into an environment focused on helping people heal and grow. At Horse Power, horses are more than a backdrop to therapy. They are an integral part of the therapeutic environment.
Through carefully structured interactions with horses, participants have opportunities to experience connection, trust, communication, boundaries, responsibility, confidence, emotional awareness, and resilience.
Gayle's lifelong understanding of horses allows her to bring a unique perspective to this work. She understands the importance of observing a horse's behavior, respecting boundaries, building trust, and developing a relationship based on clear communication.
These same principles can become powerful opportunities for personal growth.
Gayle's recognition by The Cowboy Channel and her induction into the Central Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame are celebrations of a lifetime of achievement. But at Horse Power, we are equally proud of what Gayle brings to the people we serve every day.
Her story demonstrates that the relationship between horses and humans can extend far beyond the rodeo arena. The knowledge gained through a lifetime with horses can become part of creating a safe, meaningful environment where people can discover their own strength.
Congratulations, Gayle, on this well-deserved recognition!
We are honored to have your experience, passion, knowledge, and heart as part of the Horse Power Equine Therapy family.
